Our own “traditional” financial institutions can’t manage their own affairs long enough to lend someone a $1 and yet we continue to criticize a service that allows individuals to keep their peace of mind. In times of record job loss and unemployment how dare we continue to mock those who are actually making a contribution by providing tens of thousands of jobs and lending when the ability to obtain credit is rare? And why is there always an assumption that those who patronize payday lenders are “poor” and “uneducated?” Even for those who are, that information is irrelevant as they should retain the right to make their own decisions. Should we also monitor their everyday spending to ensure their cigarette consumption doesn’t prevent them from paying their car note? What people choose to spend their disposable income on is their own business .
